Add more content to starter.shoutwiki.com

Description

The Starter Wiki doesn't seem to have much content, so I'm proposing the obvious: more content! This would be generic stuff, since there are many different wikis with different topics. This would include:

Templates

  • Template:Infobox
    • Template:Character
    • Template:Book
    • Template:Place
  • Some basic licenses such as:
    • Public domain
    • Self
    • CC-BY-2.0
    • CC-BY-2.5
    • CC-BY-3.0
    • CC-BY-4.0
    • CC-BY-SA-2.0
    • CC-BY-SA-2.5
    • CC-BY-SA-3.0
    • CC-BY-SA-4.0
    • Unknown
    • GNU GPL
    • GNU FDL

MediaWiki interface messages

  • MediaWiki:Licenses, filled out
  • Basic category map

      • Category:Infobox templates

      • Category:Navigation templates
      • Category:Template documentation
      • Category:User templates

    • Category:Files

Event Timeline

I'd agree with most of these except for Category:Sitemap, the Category:User*, Bot, Citation and Experimental (IMO, we don't have anything to populate these at the moment or in the case of Bot/Citation don't apply to the majority of wikis).

I'd say drop the specific Infobox templates. Leave Template:Infobox as a sort of generic/library type template that can easily be expanded on. When I used to start/help new wikis at Wikia, I ended up rewriting or deleting most of these 98% of the time. We could leave an example on how to expand these on hub or link out to public wikis with more specific examples.

Since we've got Scribunto enabled globally we should be using Lua modules where possible, as it provides better performance.
