Create consistent workboards across phabricator projects
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Currently, there isn't any consistent workboards (or any workboards at all, for that matter). There's multiple ways that this could be approached:

  • Organize by what kind of ticket they are. (Currently on Wikimedia Phabricator, this is how workboards in brickimedia extensions and social tools extensions are handled, and works quite splendidly):
    • Bug
    • Feedback
    • Feature Request
    • i18n
    • Documentation
  • Organize them by progress
    • Triage
    • Doing
    • Needs code review
    • Done

Documentation should probably be it's own tag instead like how it is on Wikimedia Phabricator. i18n is already a tag, although there's a workboard for it since there can be a ton and flood the other workboards (same goes with the documentation workboard).

Thoughts anyone?

Event Timeline

There's no real use of workboards here. Any that exist, are probably created by accident or as testing.

I don't really find them at useful, and for any project I'm involved with upstream, I find them counter-productive and the biggest generator of email spam I've seen apart from maybe when osTicket has a hiccup.

I also don't think having a one size fits all approach to workboards is useful. I think we should leave work boards up to the people who work on a particular project, and let them categorise tasks and bugs in which is best for them.

As per discussion on IRC, this should be done on a case-by-case basis.
