Update: Root cause is tracked down, we think it's fixed (confirmation of that at a later point, currently isolated so it won't do any harm until then) and we've liberated as much data as we can from the void.

Apparently the content still exists in DB because MW considered my edit to MediaWiki:Recentchanges-helppage null edit when I added exactly the same content it used to have. Now the content is shown on the page, but still not in the edit window. (and the message doesn't change the help link while it should)

Further examples of pages that have disappeared due to database corruption:

Backups can be used to restore lost data, not just revert. Revs should not be disappearing from the database. Nor should the problem be getting worse with time.

So even the current revision of the article does not exist, although the article itself still does.
Is it time to lock the database yet? When was the last backup?
This seems to only affect certain pages, specifically those edited between July and last week, as I was able to edit my user page and a template today.

Merged these in because they're all the same underlying cause which is some sort of botched revision (MediaWiki internals "recently" had a huge overhaul) which is causing it to freak itself out a little. We highly suspect the culprit is CreateWiki, however, at this time a cause and fix is proving difficult to pin down.

The founder of rudubbing.shoutwiki.com reports the same problem.

Parsoid is now bundled with MediaWiki 1.35, as is VisualEditor. I suppose that will make it significantly easier to install.

So, for further information, I've hacked the automysqlbackup script to use pigz (it is enabled in the more recent version which seems to be buggy and also isn't provided by package - making life... more interesting)

You need to send an email to support@shoutwiki.com with your wiki subdomain.

Completely forgot "normal users" don't just bypass the throttle check. My bad.

Thanks for the information - I'll wait for your alternative solution.

This is a known issue and as MultiUpload is effectively abandonware, we'll likely be forced to retire it for the time being until someone can patch it, I'm afraid.
Cross-wiki database operation weirdness...

This was caused by the TitleKey extension, which I've now disabled globally.
Special pages seem to be unaffected by this. However, it also seems that some article pages are missing, for example, I noticed that in fi.starwars Taistelu Ord Mantellissa or Star Wars (Yhtyneet Kuvalehdet) are not included in search suggestions.
Gotcha, I saw that forum post earlier, but it was when the most recent reply to it was an instruction to post to phabricator.
Is this a side effect of the resolution to the following task: New wikis not created properly?
For the record, Special:MyWikis throws the same error.

I believe this should be fixed?
Okay, apparently https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/rMW2d33abad9280f338e625768a408b067763a3064e should fix this. Not sure why this hasn't been backported to REL1_34 branch...
